Using Archetypal Wisdom to Access Your Power 👑❤️🔥
I often say that Archetypes are the building blocks of humanity. To me, they are Universal energy patterns or ‘imprints’ that transcend time & space, and have a commanding influence on how we meet the world. Once you begin to see them, you can’t unsee them. Every film, TV show or cultural reference taps into one. The most common archetypes are as simple as the Mother & Father. They can also be as niche as certain characters, like the Don Juan or Cinderella, or a personality captured in the zeitgeist. Certain archetypes can be introduced by a new generation (the Influencer), and others are as old as time (the Mother). Once I began to really understand archetypes and the universal nature of their imprinting (circa 2020), I gained access to a new dimension of personal transformation.
Archetypes are one my favorite “hacks” in our journey of ‘becoming’. What do I mean by it being a hack? Working with archetypal wisdom enables us to quantum leap from old embodiments or versions of self into new “postures” out in the world. Playing with these collective stories or imprinting can fast track us from states of unconscious victimhood back into our conscious awareness and agency. Archetypal awareness can also fast track us into a higher and more conscious version of ourselves. This concept is beautifully captured in this rendering of a famous quote from Dr. Carl Jung,
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
Dr. Jung was one of the biggest contributors to modern literature on the science of archetypal influence. My training is partially based on his contributions.
To go one step deeper into Archetypal wisdom, I’ll share an example that I have a lot of experience with: the journey from Damsel / Princess into Queen.
The Damsel is one of the most classic and pervasive archetypes in our modern culture. It is a powerful and sometimes addictive embodiment of the ‘wounded feminine’ or female powerlessness. Hello, Disney Princesses! This is programming that many of us received growing up. And the archetype is still very much alive, as evidenced by Netflix’s big budget film release earlier this year, actually titled “Damsel”, starring Millie Bobby Brown & Robin Wright.
